Fissure
A secondary morphology
Definition:
is a secondary morphology
linear cleft ("crack") in the skin
often tender
General Explanation of Fissure:
Caused by significant dryness, loss of skin elasticity, increased skin thickening
Examples:
Angular cheilitis = inflammation at the corners of the mouth
Hand dermatitis = often seen in dry hands during the winter time, or in people with an allergic reaction to something they are coming in contact with
