Fluid in Pleural Space
Fluid in the pleural space, called a pleural effusion, is most commonly seen in the costophrenic angles, which are the angles produced by the ribs (costo) and the diaphragm (phrenic).

When no fluid is in the pleura, the costophrenic angles are sharp and clearly demarkated:

       

When there is small volume of fluid in the pleural space, the costophrenic angle becomes blunted:
